Apple Juice Refresher

Apple Juice Refresher is hardly a recipe … more of a tip, actually.

When I was a toddler I didn’t like milk so my mom put watered-down apple juice in my bottle.

These days I mostly drink water … but sometimes you just want something a little juicier.

Apple Juice Refresher is a light and thirst-quenching drink, great for those hot summer days.

Apple Juice Refresher

INGREDIENTS:

  • Apple Juice
  • Water (preferably chilled)

Variable servings in no time at all.

PREPARE:

  1. Fill glass 2/3 full of apple juice (66% juice).
  2. Add 1/3 glass of water.
  3. Taste concoction.
  4. If too sweet, add more water.  If too tart, add more juice.
  5. Keep track of your proportions for next time.  I prefer about 60% juice … Mom prefers a super-dry 25% juice (but she also drinks unsweet tea — bleh!).

SERVE & EAT:

I recommend serving this Apple Juice Refresher in a goblet to limit portion size (fewer calories than straight juice but still empty calories).

The irony of serving this summer refreshment in a Christmas goblet was not lost on me — perhaps a subliminal frosty message?

LATER:

Once you’ve found your perfect proportion, add water to your partially-empty apple juice jug for ready-made future drinks.

Just don’t forget the juice is already thinned!  I put a check mark on the label to prevent double-watering.

ALSO:

Consider making Apple Ice-Pops with the watered-down juice.  The kids won’t notice the missing calories with all the frosty flavor.
